On 16 July, Professor of International Relations Marina Henke appeared on CNBC's Squawk Box to help contextualise the Nord Stream 2 pipeline between Russia and Germany in terms of the wider history of Russia-Germany relations and European foreign policy.

Henke expressed a critical perspective on the pipeline, suggesting it could give Russia leverage to put political pressure on European countries.

"In the big picture of things, Europe will be more vulnerable", Henke said on the programme.
